First of all I don't understand all this torrent craziness as there is such a FANTASTIC 'underground' application as SOULSEEK (www.slsknet.org). No bullshitty advertising, just a P2P app. from musiclovers to musiclovers...see for yourself.

    But ontopic:

I really like the new album too! It might not sound too psychobilly, but that's fine with me: they did that for three albums in a row. And yeah, it sounds like AFI/Davey Havoc were a big influence. But in my opinion that's not too bad at all. Production should have been a little more 'bombastic' IMHO. I love them doing the retro/eighties stuff. Still one of my fave bands. But who am I....;-)

I just listened to the new Tiger Army record. Its not bad, but some songs I like some I dont...some parts remind me too much of AFI (barf) And the song "As the cold rain falls" Although its a differant song and has an 80's feel to it...it just brings the the whole album to screeeching halt. Its just thrown in there and kinda ruins the whole flow of record. Oh well, if you like tiger army i would still get it.

On the whole the album sounds a little too overproduced and there's a couple songs that could be on AFI's album and noone would know the difference. I wish they'd do a whole album of songs like Where the Moss Slowly Grows or Outlaw Heart or The Long Road, I think that is where their strengths lie. I really like about half the album. There's a couple songs I'm still iffy on and some like hotprowl I can just leave.

the first four songs are pretty good.. they rest suck.. on the 5th track the opening is the same opening from demented are Go's surf ride to oblivion.. the album sounds over finished.. i could just imagine them playting some of these songs at a psychobilly festival.. in my opinion they no longer fall into that category which is a shame.. first two albums rock.. the best is there is a youtube clip of them a few years back at a concert when nick shouts out "tiger army is and always will fuckin be psychobilly".. some one should send him that one!! one last interested note i read the liner notes and geoff kresge acyually did back up.. i guess he made up with nick after he kicked fred out the band..

Psychobilly or not...Ive always liked their non "psycho" songs..like In The Orchard and the last song on the new album. And I agree it does sound over produced. I listened to it again yesterday and there is a song (i forget which one) and the lead guitar sounds just like an afi song.. i thought trent reznor, ooops i mean glen danzig..oops i mean davey havock was supposed to be doing back up on one of the songs? If he isn't thats ok with me.

an old friend of mine is buddeis with nick and told me that most of the songs on the 3rd album were written after him and his girlfriend broke up.. which i thought was understandable.. i thought for sure they would return to their 1st and 2nd album form.. i couldnt imagine geoffe kresge playing this type of music.. maybe their were other reasons he left besides the dick move that nock pulled on fred.. maybe the other reason was crappy/wishe-washy songs..
